Ahh, Otis Redding is one of the saddest stories in music history. A tremendous talent who was taken way too soon. It's such a shame that he never got the chance to live out what he undoubtedly would have accomplished. What he did give us was terrific, though.

Always one of my favorite songs, something I can't remember hearing the first time . . . part of who I am, I guess.

de la soul used the whistling part at the end in their song "eye know"

Georgia Rocks.Listen to this,ya'll. Real lyrics sung with heartfelt emotion and brought to life by a God given voice. No studio effects that make a wailing cat sound good. Just the one and only Otis Redding and his gorgeous voice.Sigh.

Great great song, Otis thought the song un finished and was going to fill in the temporary whistling bit at the end with wonder lyrics ? He died 3 days later.
