Will be flying into Chennai soon on way to see friend in Bangalore. What is best train to catch as flying is not much fun and it is a real hassle at airport/city transit Will be flying into Chennai from Australia soon and on way to see friend in Bangalore. What is best train to catch and how long does it take? Will be more interesting than flying i reckon.I think Southern Rail operate that service from Chennai.

Liked the bit between 9:00 and 9:30. The information about Govindarajan, Station Master Palur. Atleast proves that some thing called 'family values' (and caring of one's dear ones) still exist in India.

Very few passenger railway systems in the world make profit. But they still run, because people need to travel.

Wanna bet? LOL. Ask anyone who's been to India mate. See what they say about the smell. Hopefully you're a little more thick skinned when you read the answers.

Have used trains in India in 1985 and 2005. No complaints and, frankly, a very good experience. Don't expect the Alcala (sp?) or the Orient Express - but the trains are a gfood way to see India.

I saw this on my 3 trips to India. I love the people. But wow.. this is deadly travel. India is such a mix of hope, success and yet has a long way to go. But wow are they ever trying..
