So, my apologies for that. But the message remains. Enjoy! Also, a correction: Khadijah was 40 at the time she married the Prophet(pbuh), not 45.

I actually don't disagree with your last comment.Even the revolutionary rights granted to women back when Islam was founded are often taken away today based on cultural practice.

Your argument is pretty reasonable but even if Mohammad intended the beating option to be interpreted as a symbol of sorts only, if it's in the Quran other people can interpret it as an instruction. What if talking to the wife and leaving her be doesn't work in some situations? Has the wife got some underlying problem or should she be beaten in accordance to what the husband has been following up til now? What if the husband wrongly perceives his wife's intentions or progresssion regarding the

I agree with you, actually, but only when they conflate traditions with religion.

The Prophet probably didn't beat Aisha, he just sent his 9 year old wife to bed without supper.Sure, Islam may have been revolutionary for women in 600AD, its just a shame its still back there.

An IQ test... brilliant idea! Haha. I've often thought the same thing!But...The sad truth is that corruption exists in many aspects of faith and politics (usually for finacial/status gain), and when you intermingle the two, it's often disasterous.Illiteracy and lack of education/resources never helps the problem, either. I try to do my part, but it will take a lot more than that. Sometimes I'm hopeful, and other times I'm just scared.

re-education and rebellion against corrupt governments. it's never good news when religion and the laws of a nation are so intermingled. the west certainly has its fair share of morons as well. american fundamentalist christians scare me too. anyone without compassion and intelligence can interpret any religions doctrine in evil ways.sometimes i wonder if an IQ test ought to be given before we let anyone open ANY holy book. it might eliminate much suffering in the world.

Plenty of people have commented being critical of my views, and their comments remain. Please feel free to look through the comments. If I deleted your comments, it's because you were being a jerk. I'm not obligated to give you a shouting post for that sort of thing. Thanks.

And that's why I think re-education is very important, not only for non-muslims, but muslims.

How many muslim women do YOU know? And I delete your comments because they are insulting to me. Deal with it.

So true and Muslims women tend to frame their sisters and judge them giving more right to the men who enjoy the power trip and make sure their daughter will go through the same road worshiping their husband in the name of Allah...
