As far as I can make out Anthony was on and off repeatedly all up to the late nineties,and john betweem joining the band as an 18 year old.leaving and coming back to replace dave was continously using,as was Dave and the dead original guitarist(b4.)!Flea has said he experimented while Chad seems to be the only totally sober one.

i will agree with you that it has reference's to his past drug history, but he was the only one "not" useing, im not sure about chad, but im getting this straight out of anthonys autobigraphy, the song is a bout the rift he felt between him and john, because john was smokin pot and shit and anthony wanted everyoe to be clean around him, that is wat distanced him from the band, adn this sogn actually rekindled their relationship
