It is an apple, not a maraca. At one point it zooms in and you can even see the stem. I don't even know why this was brought up in the first place.

They're a comedy folk type band from New Zealand. They have they're own show in America on HBO, which is the same name as their band, 'Flight of the Conchords'. Its developed a cult following and is about to start its second season. This is a clip from the first. I personally cant get enough of them :)
