Allegri's setting of Psalm 51. Introduced by Barry Rose, from a 1987 programme which includes Barry Rose talking to the Choir's director, Stephen Cleobury about how he trains his choristers (that will follow seperately).I have had to edit out one verse I'm afraid to make it fit on Youtube. I took out one where the cameras spent most time gazing at the stained glass windows.FOR THE FULL VERSION: Go to www.sendspace.com login as notyobs with the p/w notyobs then click on My Files and you'll be able to download this (plus several other things too!)

Are you still an athiest? This is the least of beauty that you are missing out on. The Lord reveals his secrets to his beloved. This music was once a state secret of Rome sealed under punishment of excommunication of soul and sundry body parts, performed only once a year for the Pope during holy Week until the "Beloved of God"* heard it at the age of 14 and wrote it down from memory. Note Perfect. *Amadeus

Incredible piece of music that reflects the season/occasion of the church year it was written for. It is so profound and moving - even if those who are non-christians who listen to this are inspired by its beauty. It is amazing how this piece, over 370 years old, still touches the hearts of those who hear it. I wish ALL people would just take the time to just LISTEN to music like this - maybe people would be more kind and understanding of one another - the world would be a much better place.

This piece is my favorite part of the Lenten/Easter season. Every year I look forward to it.
