The La5FN and the Yakovlev9T introduced in 1943 were equivelent or superior to the contemporary 109G2 and 190A. By the end of the war the Yakovlev 3 and the La7 far outclassed the late 109G 109K, and 190D series.

Such ratios are meaningless. You must examine the overall picture. Try comparing ratios on the Eastern front. German aicraft generally superior to their Soviet counterparts (but not in all cases) but the Soviets won. Go figure.

The Germans were simply overwhelmed. The 109 was way past its best by 1945 but was still capable. The 190A series was still competitive at the end, but only at mid/low altitudes. The D series was a match for anything the allies had could put up in 1945. The 262, because it could enter and then disengage for a fight at will, had an advantage over any prop. fighter.

if 50.cal is so great, why dont they still use it on AH64, and in fighters? why change to 20-30mm cannons? and using He ammo like what germans used in WW2, thin walled shells packin lots of stuff.. wonder why |
