This is an improvisational rhythmic composition in Persian classical music played on santoor by Pooyan Nassehpoor http://www.santoori.com and accompanied on tonbak by Peyman Nasehpour http://nasehpour.tripod.com/pe... mode is in Dastgah Nava (very old modal system of Persian music). This video clip is a part of the concert of Nassehpoor Ensemble in February 2002 in Iranian Artist Forum (Khaneh ye Honarmandan).Similar hammaered-dulcimer instruments: yang chin (China), Santoor (India, Iraq, Egypt), Hackbrett (Germany), Santoori (Greece), Cimbalom (Hungaria) and so on...Similar goblet drums: darbuka, darbouka, doumbelek, dumbek, doumbek and zirbaghali.

These guys are great artist's. I used the parts between 7:00 and 9:00 as an example of persian traditional music for an oral presintation in my music of the worlds cultures class for college.
