Fuck it. Let's settle it.The band classify themselves as Mathcore/Progressive Rock. And if you check their myspace page, their genres are Metal/Punk/Thrash.Either way, we're both wrong. I can readily accep that. Can you?
Skitch213 (January 1, 1970 at 12:59 am)
Emo/Metalcore?Didn't you just tell me NOT to do that? I can see that you're the typical troll. All you do is contradict yourself in an effort to annoy people. It's quite pathetic really. What is your problem?Still Remains and Protest the Hero bearly even sound similar, so doing that would be like apples and oranges. You can't go around thinking that because a vocalist doesn't scream all the time and growl like a psycho that makes the band emo. It just doesn't work like that.

are you talking seriousy??? they're emo metalcore, what's your problem? do youhave some handic*p? and anyway if you compare the vocals are very similar but try to compare for example still remains songs to the last video i've seen, bloodmeat, then come back, fu*kta*d
Skitch213 (January 1, 1970 at 12:59 am)
No, I don't spend all of my time on these videos. I got an email saying that a reply had been made to a comment, so you know what I did? The normal thing and checked it. And what did I find but some ignorant asshole trolling... It's truly saddening. There is no why in hell this band are emo. Let's look at some bands considered emo, shall we? Taking Back Sunday, The Used, My Chemical Romance, The Academy is..., Hawthrone Heights. Do Protest sound ANYTHING like this lot? No. I rest my case.
resilenthill (January 1, 1970 at 12:59 am)
mathcore yes, mathcore is related to metalcore but maybe you don't know that, and i don't really think you know my bands, you're a fagg*t that don't have anything to do in life and because he likes some emo bands he has to go all the day on their videos saying "they're not emo, they're fuc*in metal" ahah i really seen everything from ppl like you, bfmv not emo metalcore and stuff like that ahah dude just deal with it, they're mathcore/post hardcore/emo metalcore, stop, admit it XD
Skitch213 (January 1, 1970 at 12:59 am)
My point here is this.Protest the Hero aren't emo. Hell, I wouldn't even say they were metalcore. I'd place them more in the realm of mathcore because of the technical guitar and strange time signatures... So stop saying that they're emo. It's fucking ignorant.
Skitch213 (January 1, 1970 at 12:59 am)
Oh, that old card. You can't actually find a way to fault me, so you go with the "I listen to bands you've never heard of", then don't back it up. If these bands are as "real" as you say, they'll be on my radar. Why? Because I listen to good bands, like Protest the Hero here.
resilenthill (January 1, 1970 at 12:59 am)
i listen to everything too, mars volta is composed from some members of at the drive in and guess what? they were an emo band, i know they aren't but some influences from past could remain, if you think that an emo band must always talk about suicide or broken heart your musical culture is even more limitated than i thought, i listen to real bands that you never have heard the existance of, so really shut up, if you go and search you'll see that metalcore contains melodic death metal, emo, screamo
Skitch213 (January 1, 1970 at 12:59 am)
And because of Youtube's crappy character limit, I need to write another comment.Just because Rody's voice is high, that does not make his vocals emo at all. Look at Cedric from The Mars Volta. He sings REAL high, but are The Mars Volta emo? Fuck no!The bottom line here is... Protest the Hero aren't emo, so stop accusing them of being something they're not. It's just fucking ignorant to believe that if a singer's vocals are high, they're emo. You need to fucking learn things dude.
Skitch213 (January 1, 1970 at 12:59 am)
My musical "culture" is limited? Haha! Spare me. I listen to everything from Drum 'n' Bass to Rap to Country to Death Metal... And EVERYTHING in between. I just happen to favour this kind of music. Which is NOT emo.You can't say a band is "emo" because of how the vocals sound. Rody isn't whining and he isn't singing about lost love and killing himself. Do you even know what this song is about? Can you even appreciate his diverse vocal range? |
