The 109 has a distinct "growl:" that no other plane has added to the musical whine of its turbocharger it is a symphonic testiomony of engineering mastery at its finest...For its time period. The P-51 is an entirely different "type" of design idea. Its Rolls Royce Merlin is smooth like a good well rounded beer, there are none like it. The Spitfire has the Merlin but it does not sound the same as the P-51 it has a smooth "growl" with out the supercharger whine All three were exceptional aircraft

Actually the P-51 was designed as a long range fighter and played a major part in achieving final air superiority over Germany. During Korea it was relegated to the A/G role. You may be thinking of the P-47 which proved to be very adept at A/G including tankbusting.

u think than p51 is better, well, BBC (maybe =p), 100% that do one movie with all skills cheaters of 109, maybe u need read, dont watch about it.
