I think they are trying to reverse the common storyline - guy has his girlfriend, he falls in love with another guy, finally breaks up with his gf and goes to his secret lover. But, honestly, that storyline is 100% more interesting that gay guy falling in love with a gal, esp. with that Vanessa bitch.
