That's because the public generally have tastes that are simplistic and reach only the surface. How much more simplistic can you get than "I Wanna Hold Your Hand?" Please deconstruct that and try your very best to find any nuance. As influences, I grant that. As music that strums the chords of the soul...oh, oh, I think I just created a verse for a great song. Wait, it's already been used, hasn't it...perhaps even copywrited? Patented? Anybody a patent lawyer?

I love DS but this version of a great song is a bit sub-par and seems a bit muddy, maybe it is just the audio limitations of the video unit. As far a MK being an Amadeus- that's sweet but his lasting mark on modern music is a small one in the big picture.

I've seen Dire Straits just one or two years before that [1978/ 79] at Muensterlandhalle/ Muenster, Germany [W.GER at that time]. They were new and they were so fresh! They were loud and they were all we needed! And we got it - full scale!!!

Listen to the Alchemy version, in my opinion much better. Yes! that is Pick Withers on drums.
